DUNE

Location: Cairo, Egypt
Program: Cultural
Status: Competition
Year: 2025

The project draws its essence from the natural landscape of Cairo, where undulating sand dunes meet the timeless silhouettes of the pyramids. This integration with context ensures the architecture harmonises with its surroundings, rising subtly from the desert as though sculpted by the wind. The built form, inspired by the fluid geometry of dunes, is not only visually iconic but also physically interactive, with walkable surfaces that invite exploration and engagement. Form and function are intrinsically linked, creating a soft, rising mass that blurs the boundary between building and landscape. This duality transforms the site into a living environment where architecture and nature coexist seamlessly, fostering an immersive and sensory connection to the heritage-rich context. The result is a space that is culturally symbolic while maintaining strong functional utility. A thoughtful program and spatial strategy underpins the design. Visitors are welcomed through a generous green public plaza that acts as a communal threshold, progressing fluidly into the heritage valley and digital plaza.
